Roast Chicken Cooking Times

 

 

Cooking times are based on an oven temperature of  180C. Cooking times are approximately 25 minutes per 500g (1 pound).

Size 1.2 (1.2 kilo or 2.6 pounds) 1 hour
Size 1.5 (1.5 kilos or 3.3 pounds) 1 hour, 15 minutes
Size 2 (2 kilos or 4.4 pounds) 1 hour, 40 minutes
2.5 kilos (5.5 pounds) 2 hours, 5 minutes
3 kilos (6.6 pounds) 2 hours, 30 minutes
 

How do I know when the chicken is properly cooked?

Chicken is cooked when the internal temperature of the thickest part of the thigh reaches a minimum of 180C. You can also stick a fork into the thickest part of the chicken. The juices that come out should be clear and no part of the meat should be pink.
