Mulled Wine

Ingredients:
1 bottle red
wine 1/4 cup white
sugar 2 cups water 4 cinnamon
sticks 2 nips (60ml)
brandy 12 whole
cloves 2 oranges 2 lemons,
thinly sliced 1 whole
nutmeg, grated
Method:

Push the
12 cloves into the two oranges and place
into a saucepan with sugar, nutmeg, cinnamon
sticks & sliced lemons.

Add
water.

Bring to
boil then reduce the heat & cover. Simmer
for 20 minutes.

Allow to
cool and then strain and discard the fruit
and spices.

Pour the
liquid back into a saucepan and add 1 bottle
(750ml) red wine and brandy. Heat until almost boiling
but do not allow to boil or the alcohol will
evaporate.

Serve in
heat proof glass with a slice of lemon & a
cinnamon stick (optional).
