Caramelized onions

Ingredients:

3 medium sized onions (red or white).
-
3 tablespoons of olive oil or butter.

2-3 teaspoons of brown sugar.

1 teaspoon balsamic vinegar.

Salt & pepper to taste.
Method:

Peel and halve the onions. Cut into 5mm
slices.

Heat oil or butter in a heavy based frying
pan over a medium heat.
-
Add the onion & season with salt & pepper.
Cook for approximately 10 minutes, until they
begin to soften.
-
Reduce heat to low, add the sugar & vinegar, and continue to cook until soft
(approx 5 minutes).
