Buffalo wings recipe

Originating from the Anchor Bar in Buffalo, there appear to be many versions of this recipe. These wings are served with a blue cheese dip (see recipe below) & sticks of celery.

Ingredients:

30 chicken wings
6 tablespoons hot pepper sauce (such as Tabasco)
4 tablespoons margarine
1 tablespoon white vinegar
1/8 teaspoon celery seed
1/4 teaspoon Cayenne pepper
1/4 teaspoon red pepper
1/8 teaspoon garlic salt
1 dash black pepper
1/4 teaspoon Worcestershire Sauce

Method:

  • Cut off the wing tip & discard. Chop the remainder of the wing in half. Sprinkle with salt & pepper.

  • Mix together all ingredients on a low heat until margarine is melted.

  • Either deep fry (approx. 10-12 minutes) or bake (approx. 45 minutes) the chicken wings until cooked. Drain well.

  • Pour sauce over wings, coating well.

  • Serve with sticks of celery & blue cheese dip.

Blue cheese dip:

150g blue cheese
1/2 cup (125g) sour cream
1/2 cup (125g) mayonnaise
2 garlic cloves, crushed
