Roast Beef Cooking Times 

 

Allow 30 minutes per kilo for rare, 45 minutes per kilo for medium & 60 minutes per kilo for well done. Temperatures are based on an oven temperature of 200C (390F).

1.5 kilos (3.3 pounds) 45 minutes 1 hour & 10 minutes 1 hour, 30 minutes
2 kilos (4.4 pounds) 1 hour 1.5 hours 2 hours
2.5 kilos (5.5 pounds) 1 hour, 15 minutes 1 hour, 50 minutes 2 hours, 30 minutes
3 kilos (6.6 pounds) 1 hour, 30 minutes 2 hours, 25 minutes 3 hours
3.5 kilos (7.7 pounds) 1 hour, 45 minutes 2 hours, 37 minutes 3 hours, 30 minutes
4 kilos (8.8 pounds) 2 hours 3 hours 4 hours
4.5 kilos (9.9 pounds) 2 hours, 15 minutes 3 hours, 25 minutes 4 hours, 30 minutes
5 kilos (11 pounds) 2 hours, 30 minutes 3 hours, 45 minutes 5 hours
 

Once cooked remove from oven & cover in foil & allow to stand for 20-30 minutes before slicing. This allows the meat to relax, making it easier to carve & enhancing the flavour.
